Synthetic multidimensional plasma electron hole equilibria

Methods for constructing synthetic multidimensional electron hole equilibria without using particle simulation are investigated. Previous approaches have various limitations and approximations that make them unsuitable within the context of expected velocity diffusion near trapped-passing boundary. An adjustable model distribution function is introduced avoids unphysical singularities there, yet sufficiently tractable analytically to enable prescription potential spatial profiles. It shown why simple models charge density as being a only cannot give solitary holes, in contradiction prior suppositions. Fully self-consistent axisymmetric holes drift-kinetic limit motion (negligible gyro-radius) constructed their properties relevant observational interpretation finite-gyro-radius theory discussed.
